December 22-A reverse Santa appeal which the children who make up our School Council, chose to support, saw the children enjoy a visit in school from Father Christmas who had a small gift for each of them. In return, the children and their families donated items to put together a Christmas gift for others in our community, including the elderly and children and families being supported by Refugee Action.
A stall at the Christmas Fair run by some of our children raised £100 for Martin House Children's Hospice.
November 22-With thanks to the children creating their beautiful plastic-free poppy crafts, £119.50 was given to the Royal British Legion poppy appeal.
We also celebrated Children in Need Day in November by holding a non uniform day with the emphasis being on wearing yellow and spots and optional Pudsey Bear accessories! £696 was raised.
October 22-We supported #HelloYellow, a charity which aims to ensure all young people know that whatever they are going through, they do matter and we were able to donate £362.50.
Our traditional Harvest celebrations saw parents kindly sending non-perishable food items into school to support St George’s Crypt, Leeds - a charity who provide emergency accommodation for men and women who are homeless and support them back into training and work. This year more than ever, they were extremely grateful to be receiving our donations.
We were visited by Sophie Carrigill, a Great Britain wheelchair basketball player. Sophie led a sponsored fitness circuit followed by a talk and a question and answer session with the aim of inspiring pupils to take up sport generally, but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life. The event enabled £603.20 to be donated to Sports for Champions and £904.80 to support PE in school.
